STAYING YOUNG   ........................... or at least trying to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Di wasn't crying . . . not really
We all went on rides.............................some of us were really game and went on some death defying rides.

Graeme really loved this ride

Some went on more sedate rides . . .

And some even enjoyed the rides
See we did enjoy it

Gold Coast

DAY 37 - 38

Moved on this morning to the Gold Coast.   Rained all the way so the journey was rather slow partly because of roadwork and partly because we got a bit lost.  (can't trust these GPS's)
Shark
Duck & Fish
Another Shark
Another Fish
We weren't sure whether we would stay one night or two depending on the weather.  Well we woke up this morning to a beautiful day so decided we would finish on a big note and go to Sea World.  Actually I wanted to get some more animal photo's for my beautiful grandchildren.

Mary Valley Rattler

Mary Valley Ratter Station
DAY 36

Up bright and early and off to Eumundi Markets.  They must be one of the best markets I have been to.  Great spot to find some bargins and just to look at all the creativity that some people have.

After morning tea it was off to Gympie to board the Valley Rattler.  The train left around one and arrived back about 4.45.m.   All the staff are volunteers and they do a wonderful job at making the past come to life.
On our way

Some of the volunteers
The scenery was great and the cheese and wine tasting was also very good.

Mooloolabah

DAY 35

Mooloolabah Beach
Had a restful day today, just exploring the area. (Shopping Centres)  I needed a fix in retail therapy, must be losing my edge as I only bought food and some choc's for John for Fathers Day.  Went swimming three times today, water was beautiful.   John, Graeme & Carol went exploring in the kayaks.

The caravan park is right next to the Surf Club so we went there for dinner.  Very busy but the food was good.

Moving to Sunshine Coast

DAY 34

Goodbye Hervey Bay
Gympie
Left this morning for the Sunshine Coast deciding to stay at Mooloolabah.  Stopped at Gympie on the way to see if the Mary Valley Rattler was going to be running at the weekend.

The Mary Valley Rattler is an old steam train.  The people who run it dress in period clothes and really get into the swing of things.  Booked our tickets for Saturday.

The weather is getting a bit colder as we start moving south.  This morning we went on a Whale Watching trip.  Left at 7.00 this morning, still cloudy and a abit cold.  As the morning developed so did the weather, so the morning was quite lovely.. Had a wonder display of whales,  it was great.

Fresh from the garden
Left 1770 early this morning for Hervey Bay.  Stopped at Bunderberg for morning tea at the Botanical Gardens.  Here we are in the street cooking pancakes for our morning tea.  I had stopped just before Bunderberg to pick up some strawberries (to go on our pancakes)..............they look good don't they.

DAYS 29 TO 31

1770
Off again, this time to Seventeen Seventy.  This is a beautiful area.  Having a restful time, eating, kyaking, swimming, eating, catching up on blog, catching up on washing, catching up on eating (I think I've already said that), taking photo's, reading, etc...................... John & Graeme have explored on the kayaks.   Di and I went fishing yesterday and we caught 3 fish (which we shared for tea)  (we are all dieting)  and today I caught one flatie which I gave to Carol.  (she thought it was cute).

Just a hint

Just a hint.  If you want to see the photo's in a larger size you just double click on the photo and it will increase in size.

On to Rockhampton

DAY 28

Continuing down the coast.  Stopped in Rockhampton at Macca's for a coffee.  I think it was the worst coffee I have had (me who only started to drink coffee a couple of years ago).  Getting fussy in my old age.  Di and Graeme needed to get some supplies (at Bunnings) and then we stopped again at the Botanical Gardens for lunch.  I think we should call ourselves the "goumet travellers".

Left Rockhampton and moved onto Collipy Rest Area for the night. (Another freeby).  It was a beautiful camp site. Really spacious.  There were lots of vans already there but you weren't on top of anyone.  Was able to have another open fire.
Our camp site looking across the river (can see Carol's Kayak)
